Bas Rutten

Bas "El Guapo" Rutten is a legend in the modern martial arts. He's the first ever "King of pancrase" and his amazing career includes fights against high profile fighters such as Ken Shamrock, Frank Shamrock, Guy Mezger and loads of othes.

He started training Tae Kwon Do, and switched to muay thai. Fought in pancrase for many years, and at the end of his fighting career switched to the UFC and won the heavyweight belt. He is an announcer for PrideFC at the moment.

His all time professional MMA record is 27 - 4 - 1 (win-loss-draw), he is 6'1 or 1.85 meters and weighs 205 lbs, or 93 kilos.

bas rutten has talked about comebacks
i am really sad that he didnt do a comeback .
i saw on pride 3 he was going to fight randy couture in ufc and then he challenged rickson gracie.
on this fight was there any communiction between rutten and rickson?,why didnt it happen?.
what happened with the couture fight
i heard something about injuries but thats just rumours.
also on pride 17 (?)he talks about a comeback.what happened this time.

Rickson said that Bas didn't have the skills it took to fight him, Bas was the king of Pancrase back then. I remember hearing something about him tearing his bicep, and that keeping him from fighting. But I'm not totally sure.

so rickson ran away like alittle girl.
but at pride 3 bas had already won the ufc hw title.
how could he say that he didnt have the skills to fight him.

I don't know. It's a complicated story. But I'm sure that it would have been a hell of a fight!

but back then didnt rickson have a open challenge policy.

yeah i have heard that he has turned down some people cuz there karma didnt suit him or some other wacky shit i dont know if its true tho.

Wouldn't surprise me at all! And if he ever fought again I think he'd have special rules like Royce had back in the Pride GP 2000

Yeha I read that too a while ago. He said he wanted a pention fight. OH well, only time will tell I guess.
