I'd say no. Books can never show you the details of a technique. You'd probably be better of just training... there's no substitute for that

I think that in martial arts a book is not the best trainer.

yeahm, that's how I though he meant too. Still a dummie isn't a real person. Just spend that cash on private lessons or competitions... that's what I'd do

Or build your own. There's a few people I know that have done it. I personally have a heavy bag I practice GnP and transitional drills on.

Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.

Use whatever you can to improve. Try it out and see how it goes. Heck, you never know you might find some mats and people rolling in the gym.

And dont you have friends or someone who also like BJJ? Because practiuce with them would be much better than with a Dummie.
At least I think that.

BJJ with a Dummy is like masterbating. You get sound satisfaction but it ain't the real thing.
BTW, the second link with the video sounds like porn music fast forward.

no matter how realistic the sites say training with them is, your still not gonna get the most realistic encouraging training by using your hand to grab an arm and make an opening on the dummy, you have to learn when to hit moves and recognize openings on opponents, and also the dummy offers no resistance which would prbly lead to bad technique

No, but if he does not have a partner or anyone else he needs something to help him. Heck, if he can he should find a class and buy a dummy. While it is not the most realistic training it can still provide help.

just as long as you go to a class too, i just meant not to only study and practice on a dummy and have that be your only means of training
