This was a very exciting fight but even though Joe Calzaghe is Welsh like me and my nations best ever fighter I have to say that his showboating made me angry. He looked great when he tried to actually box but it was his arogance that stopped him from stopped RJJ. He was dancing round like a buffon instead op keeping him against the ropes throwing shot after shot trying to open that cut even more.
RJJ had his moments to and for excitment value I have to say it was a great fight and I was thoroughly entertained. RJJ showed glimpses of why he is one of the best boxers to have ever lived and IMO so did Joe Calzaghe. Definatly one of the best main events fights there has been in a while in boxing.
If both men do retire then what a way for both of them to go.....IN style and in a hell of a war.

Who saw and If so PLEASE let me know what you think :D

yea i watched it on setanta on sunday morning, drunk after stumbling home with a pizza.. ughh. Then I watched it again in the morning on Setanta haha. It was a really good fight, to be honest I thought Jones was going to win, they both looked great though. I thought personally the ref should have stopped it about 8th round, Jones face was a mess.

I saw the fight. RJJ's cutman sucks! I don't think RJJ can see on that one eye. Joe is good no doubt! I don't think he will retire though. RJJ at his prime like 8 years ago would have made a great matchup vs Joe 2 years ago. Now that would have been exciting.

I have to dissagree with you FightDR though, that COTTO vs. MARGARITO fght so far for me is the best in 2008.

I agree with you, it may not have been the best out and out fight but this wasn't just a main event fight but a Super Fight the whole world wanted to see...but yeah there has been some great fights for sure this year and that was definatly one you mentioned qwerty.

I think Joe might retire but I think he wants to go out fighting at The Millenium Stadium in Cardiff Wales...It's our national stadium andJoe I think would love a super fight there one last time in front of his countrymen cheering him on, maybe a Hopkins rematch.

Both Joe and Calzaghe will end up in the hall of fame soon enough and I really hope RJJ retires now, I don't want to see him destoying his legacy to make money he doesn't need. Joe also IMO should have one more fight ONLY, he has proved everything he needs to.The guy is an incredible boxer although he is a cocky bastard and to be honest if he wasn't my nations best ever boxer and someone who I have met and watched train I would hate the arrogant p%#$k. 8)

Cotto versus Margirito was by far the Best fight of the year. Seems to me thier are very few real fight fans and more main stream veiwers here.

Not at all, but people do have their opinion and with Calzaghe being my countryman a little bit of me being biast on my part for sure.
I didn't say Cotto Vs. Margirito wasn't the best fight and I never said Calzaghe Vs. RJJ was the best boxing fight of the year either. But this was a much more hyped fight and I would consider this being a super fight rather that just a main event...most super fights fall short and this didn't. Margirito and especially Cotto alway puts on a show no doubt and is one of the best boxers in the world but RJJ and now Calzaghe are now legends.
Best fights of the year are peoples opinions and Calzaghe winning mean alot to me, so it wins the prize. It has nothing to do with my boxing Knowledge, spend some time here and lets find out more we might both learn something and this is a good site to do that.
