Hey everyone, I just started in Muy Thai about a month ago. I am 18 and weigh 120 lbs. Aside from being the only girl in my class I am also a vegan and am trying to add more protein etc to my diet. I go to class 3-4 times a week and walk for an hour a day and usually do some other form of cardio for about an hour 5 days a week. Does anyone have any tips/advice for me? Any help would be appreciated.

Almonds and nuts are a great source of healthy fats and protein. Remember you will need your fatty acids and omega 3's. Flax Seed and Fish Oils.

Cant do fish oil, cuz of the whole vegan thing, but I could try flaxseed oil. I already eat lots of almonds and other nuts.

Don't take offense, but they get jealous easily.
Have you decided on your protein supplements?

I haven't started taking supplements yet, I've been trying to eat more tofu, soy stuff etc that has protein along with trail mix and what not. Do you think a protein powder is absolutely necessary? How can I find out how many grams of protein/calories I need?

No, but protein supplements are your only way to receive the correct amount of protein you need.
"As a general rule, between 10 percent and 15 percent of your total calories should come from protein. So, if you consume 2,000 calories per day, at least 200 should come from protein, or about 50 grams. You should try to eat around one gram of protein per one kilogram of body weight, or around 0.4 grams per pound. An easier way to figure this out in your head is to take your weight, divide it in half, and subtract 10. The total will be the number of grams of protein you should consume each day. So, if you weigh 120 pounds, you should eat about 50 grams of protein."

Unless you are body building I would stick with that. usually body builders do a 1:1 ratio.

bodybuilders generally are crazy too...
I use a ration of body weight (in kilos) x 0,7 to get how many grams of protein per day I need.
