hey guys, im just wondering,

do u think i should start wrsetling in 11th grade next year? im afraid that ill be such a newbie so im not so sure about starting but my friends are doing it and i really want to start wrestling or jujitsu outside of school but all mma fighters have a hackground in school wrestling so can you guys give me an opinion on whether or you would start doing wrestling in 11th grade with no background of wrestling at all and couldnt you tell me how they set everything up, some training drills they do in your schools and just some basic info on high school wrestling. Thanks guys.

Absolutely now is the time if you want to get wrestling, next year will be to late to do much good in the season, since you will be focusing on the basics, and almost no competing college will allow a green wrestler on their mats during practice.

just join as soon as possible, maybe talk to the coach, im sure they could arrange something, like around here they have open mats were you can go down off season twice a week for an hour and drill, pretty much even if you just did a season or two of wrestling it would still help you immensly with mma, like it would get your conditioning up and help you with ground attack and takedowns. and anyway if you decide you like it then it could be mad fun for you and if you dont, then just quit

Maybe its too late to compete for you but try asking the coach if you can come to practices but not go to tournaments. Ive been wrestling since grade 9 and my coach is pretty open for people coming in to practices when they missed signing up but i guess it depends on your coach.
Also starting grade 10-11 doesnt mean its too late for you to have a good season. First year you will most likly not win anything, get your ass kicked and learn the basics but if you train hard over the summer you can start winning somthing your 2nd season.Thats the situation for me last year i didnt even place most of the time, this year i usualy place around 4th to 2nd.

No I am saying it is good to start next year before its to late, but some schools can allow you to come in at the 2nd semester and if you have room in your schedule that is a good choice also.
