Looking to start. Where to look to find a good local gym.

Postby Jonathan 2.4 » Tue Jun 20, 2006 6:18 pm

I have a background in wrestling in junior high and high school. Cali State champ in as a freshman. Now I want to learn something that will teach me how to incorporate strinking or even a whole new style. I don't know where to look for a gym. I have googled and googled and found nothing. I'll be in Norfolk VA and can't find anything. I am searching pre arrival there.

Anygood tips would be appreciated, or maybe somewhere I can read about it.

Thanks
Jonathan

The links to their websites, if they have one, should be on there also.

Norfolk Karate Academy also teaches Gracie JiuJutsu. The instructor there is the Army Colonel who founded the Army Combatives Program with Rorion Gracie, and he is a beast. I have personally felt this guys stuff. NKA is kind of a sleeper school. They are going to break out there JiuJutsu stuff to the public in a few months when Rorion Gracie comes out here for his first East Coast Seminar in a long time.

It's an ok place, esp. if you live in Downton Norfolk. Linkx is a good school to don't get it twisted, Frank Cucci is a real barney bad ass, (more barney than badass but whatever) His BJJ instructor is Luis Palharas, who is a 6th Degree in BJJ under Rickson, but NKA has a great mix of al the arts, and he puts the shit together to work, hes a 6th Dan in Tang Soo Do, he has a Muay Thai instructor, Arnis Instructor, JKD instructor, Judo Instructor....etc. you get the idea. The school is the only one in Norflok that trains NHB fighters for King of the Ring and shit like that. best of all.....it like 80 bucks a month
