Low Budget Training

Low Budget Training

Postby GrappleorWrestle » Mon May 05, 2008 7:54 am

I am going to start doing a new training regimen soon. It's based on budget training, i.e. low cost because I am a poor, now graduated college student looking for a job.

It includes:

Kettlebell Training: Great, great, great for strengthening your core. Also you can do some awesome cardio training with them

Medicine Ball: It's always nice to have fun with your (med.) balls. These can help you with some of your plyometrics. Not only that but you can have some great fun.

Tractor Tire: That's right flipping tires. Got it free from a family member. Have 10 more if anyone in TN wants to pick up one. This gives a full body workout. You can also "try" to do a tire pull with these.

Sledge Hammer: Sledgehammer, woot? Three different types of swings you can do with this and you can get some great cardio in. Also gives you a full body work out.

Jump Rope: Bleh, I cannot jump rope worth crap. After about 2 minutes I am dead. Great for cardio though.

Concrete blocks: Use these if you cannot afford those pushup floor handle things. You can also use them to jump over forward and back and side to side.

Wooden Pallets and/or Bottle Crates: You can find these suckers laying around anywhere. You can use these instead of concrete blocks. Also they have more surface area and are easier to stack so you can jump on and jump off. Great drill.

And finally:

Bodyweight exercises: I have a few bodyweight circuits I am going to do.

Also I am thinking about adding a sandbag to the routine and do come clean and jerks with them or you can do the shoulder hauls with them up a hill or small sprints with them. I usually fill a canvas sack with small ziplock bags full of sand. Why ziplock? Because you can get them in all sizes and it's easy to get an exact weight with them. With those small bags of sand you can just add a few bags or take away.

It may work, what do you all think? I am still going to have my heavy bag and ground and pound bag to practice on. Just thought I would do something that would be great fun.

Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.

Here another one for your list!!
A sparring partner!! They are free when they are your buddies, plus you really get in depth look at how people react to specific attacks!

You can also get the partner to help you on passing the medicine ball and pushing your training to the max.

I just passed my qualifiers for the TBI and have started the testing process for the computer forensics agent. Hopefully it will go well, I will find out in 2-3 weeks.

On a note, kettlebells were a little bit more expensive than I thought. 30 dollars for 1 ten pound kettlebell. But after you have them you no longer have to pay.

Got all the equipment will post some workouts for them soon.

Yeah that is. Sorry I did not clarify.

Tire flipping is kicking my arse. Just wanted to let people know that.

Little bit of an update.

Sledgehammer: Have workouts completed
Concrete Block: Have about 90% of these completed.
Tractor Tire: Almost Complete
Jump Rope: Complete
Body Weight: about 75% complete. Reworking some of the ideas.
Heavy Bag: In case some people do have a heavy bag making drills for this. So far it does include stand up and ground work.
Medicine Ball: In case people have this.
Dumbbell or Kettlebell: I am stuck on this. I say low budge, but kettlebells are damn expensive, but do better core workouts than dumbbells. Dumbbells are cheaper and most people like these workouts better than kettlebell workouts.

Soon as I get all of the workouts for each section finished I will do them and try to post pictures. I have been out of the game for awhile, so do not expect much.
