Damn Kensie you are a great voice of reason, I didn't hear that interview but I agree with both what Machida said and what you have said...
Both fighters offered something different threat wise but Tito although showed little against him looked better than soko.
Soko looked out of his depth, maybe it was inexperience and nerves with it being his first UFC fight, tito was just made to look bad by a fighter who had him scouted perfectly. Although I think the same can be said for soko i think the real soko didn't turn up.

I dont know. I think Mach knew how to beat them both and that is what he did. Tito was not going to go quickly, so he knew it was a decision win he was gunning for. Soku would get better and more dangerous as time went on so he kept the pressure on and kept moving into him.
If you watch the fights it was two different strategies completely. in the Soku fight he moved in and forced take downs and kept real close so that Soku could not fire off bombs, in the Tito fight he kept his distance and worked on countering and stuffing the rushes.

Yes i agree with that to the point that Machida had perfect tactics for both men, However Tito wasn't able to get his game off cos Machida wouldn't let him. Soku had the chance to get some good throws with his judo and he never really did.
Also when you look at the ground game in both fights, he dominated Soku and was the better agauinst tito but hardly complete domination like against Soku...thats all my point is. To all fans his win over Soku was fantastic display, against mma fans his win looked that over Tito....as fucked up as that sounds.

you guys type all you want but I am certain there was no style, no game plan for Ortiz to beat Machida. Ortiz is at least 2 classes lower than Machida so I'm convinced Machida gave him too much respect probably due to his name recognition and not what Ortiz could do to him.
The only surprise for all of us and Machida was that submission attempt which probably was Ortiz's best move in years

Soko was atleast able to hurt Machida and make him panic. Tito didn't get a solid strike in all night.

I agree totally. Machida did not go for it because he wanted a win and was a bit nervous that Titos name was not just a history lesson. Tito was not ready to finish that fight and was not ready for the technical striker.
FIG and JS are so right. I think if Tito comes back it would be interesting to feed him to Soku, but Dana wont prolong the pain. He just wants to be done with Tito....I personally think Tito is now in the same "freak show" catagory as Shammy and a few other old timers. Stick a fork in him...he is done.

So what's next for Machida?

Well I think it's time they started thinking about number 1 contender fight for him, against who is the question but 1 more win and he should then get title fight.
I mean Wandi 1 and 1 so doesn't deserve to be no 1 contender. Chuck and shogun to me have to fight.
maybe a brizilian showdown with Thiago Silva???
Thats an aweome question GoW.

Mach will have one more fight to see if they can sell him as a contender. then maybe if he wins he will go for the belt. UFC is half marketability half earning a spot... I think he is half way their on both!

agree 100% as I said he has got to be in that bracket, but who does he fight for the chance to fight for the belt. There are so many inconsistant fighters in the LHW right now.
I must admit though I would love to see him piss over Rashad Evans, that would make me soo happy.

I think Machida is a great fighter, just with a different style of fighting and I think UFC should give him a shot for the title even though I know it wont happen, at least not soon.

Well, Chuck is fighting someone at UFC 88, maybe it's Machida? I believe Shogun will not be fighting until UFC 89 or 90 so maybe a Machida vs Shogun. Winner gets Rampage/Griffin.

Chuckles vs Machida would be too much of a tactical fight. Both are pretty much counter punchers. A Machida vs Shogun would be more intriquing - as Shogun is an aggressive fighter and quick enough to catch Machida.
