if you go too low too fast it will shock the body and it wont perform normally.

You never mentioned your current weight, or how much you are trying to lose. Also, how much time do you have?

both these gents have good points. if you are fighting, how far off is it and how much weight do you have to loose?

You should only bee about 5 pounds out at the two to three week out point. that way the body can get used to the lower weight. if you drop 20 pounds in the last two weeks you will be a zombie in the fight and the other guy wont have to work hard to gass you or make you pass out.

you cannot drop 20 pounds in only 5-6 weeks. You need atleast 2 months to lose the weight properly. Sure, you can lose alot of the glucose your body stores and a little fat. But the big weight loss will be water. And being dehydrated heading into a fight is very dangerous. Losing all the stored glucose will have a few effects. You will be weaker, much less stamina and adrenaline won't have much more effect then raising your pulse

Gurre is right, if you drop that much to quick you are loosing a lot of energy and water, both things why will want when you go into a fight. Not only that but if you are cutting weight for the first time, make sure you have a great team behind you that is used to dropping weight, you could have health issues come up. go to the doc before and after weight loss to check your cardio system.

cut carbs down, dring water like their is nothing else to dring (cut out pop and such), eat smaller meals, cardio cardio...oh, and cardio, roll as much as you can and get in some more cardio. You will thank yourself when you have a lean, full gas tank and the other guy is sucking wind because he had to cut so much so quick.

Aqua is the key! Drink it all day, all the time - and drink nothing else!

well like meal replacement bars always are good for recovering from sucking weight, or just pre match it gives you food and enuogh energy and nutrients and it also doesnt bounce around in yuor stomach and weigh you down in the fight, That and a lil bit of water and just squirt it in your mouth to keep it moist through the fight if you chug 3 gatorades you will be freaking once you actually gotta move cuz all of that water will just be rolling in your stomach

you can easily lose 15 pounds over night, in the mornign you will hobble out of bed half dead like but you can make weight, i know the feeling from weighing 175 and wrestling 160 i had to do that for alot of matches then i would eat meal replacement bars and drink watered down gatorade until i was about 170 then have more so i was around 180 for matches it sux cutting weight but if you have to do it i think that i would rather lose a match then not have the chance at all and miss weight
