Ramon Dekker

Postby Gurre » Tue Jul 05, 2005 7:00 am

Ramon "the diamond" Dekker is a truly amazing fighter. A living legend in the sport of Muay Thai. He has over 200 pro muay thai fights, and the majority of those are wins.

Ramon is a lightweight, and fought the thais in "their" weight diviosn in their land. He beat them by their rules. That is why he always will be remembered in Thailand.

His step-father (Corr Hemmers) is his trainer. He also traines some of the fighters in Golden Glory.

Ramon has had several ankle injuries, and operations. He is known to kick through his opponants blocks. He simply doesn't care. He punches and kicks like a heavyweight, but he weighs only 64 kilos!

He recently made his pro MMA debut in k-1's Heros, losing to Genki Sudo.

His all time pro MMA record is 0 - 1 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw)

A lot of MMA fans who have only seen Ramon Dekkers in a few fights don't think too much of him.

But he was the first foreigner to be named "Fighter of the Year" in Thailand. Younger Thai fighters wanted to fight him so bad that as soon as Ramon stopped going to Thailand often because of injuries, family etc.. they came to fight him in Holland

He had over 200 professional fights with 175 wins, 90 KOs. Not too mention that once he'd become unable to use his left leg for kicking coz his ankle was done he retrained himself to only use his right left

I'm surprise that when you look Dekkers up on Sherdog's fightfinder they only show his 2 MMA fights

SHerdog only lists MMA fights. So there's no wonder only 2 are listed.

And just for the record, the thais actually went to Europe to fight him before he ever went to Thailand.

Ramon is a true legend. I hope k-1 Max signs him..

One of the thing's about Dekker's Thai Boxing record is that... well... you can't really say that it's at all accurate. Decision's were/are extremely biased in Tailand. Especially toward foreigner's.

One of the best thai fighters ever. Anybody got videos? Searched all over cant find any but 1. I want to dl as many as possible. He might suck in MMA, but then again watching two guys fight on the ground is not my style, I like it, but for me to choose between stand up and jiujitsu/wrestling is ridiculous. Stand up is so much cooler.

Anyway, not that i really like belts, but a white belt being thrown on me like this, how do you know my skill :) jk, but it really is funny.
