Ya, its amazing how in just a few years time some one so dominate could look so mediocre.

Exactly.. I was ashamed of being a Royce fan after he was ass raped by an egoistic son of a bitch with the name of Matt Hughes..

Royce inspired me when I first saw him fight in the UFC.. But he syill has my respect..

Royce, like many inovators got caught up in his own camps hype. most fighters that see they have a major issue in fight style will fire thier yes man camp and go to a camp that can help them evolve. Problem is his camp is his family, and you cant get rid of family. and the others were hired guns that were just basically yes men with skills.

Royce by far has some of the best BJJ skills and learning available to him, now he needs coaches that will kick his ass and yell at him when he fucks up. A striking coach that is unimpressed with who he is and a wrestling coach that wont let him get away with the crap he is getting away with.

But, I think this is a case of old dog and new tricks. He is still a great old timer that would draw on super fight cards somewhere, but he is not going to get gold any time soon. Anyone know how many fights he has left on his UFC contract?

i know he got paid $400,000.00 for the Hughes fight. So i dont think he really cared if he won or lost. it wasn't for the title, that fight was just for his bank account.

I remember reading somewhere that he now has a Muay Thai coach so i'm only assuming that he knows and understands that he needs to be as good as a striker than a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist,....

one nice thing about his Academy is it is down the Street from my school :D

He had a MT coach for the Hughes fight. But he is hard wired into the BJJ and he got ass raped by Hughes. I dont think Hughes is any more than a good wrestler with good GNP and Gracie and him both have horrible stand up. IF he sticks around the MT coach has his work cut out for him.

some of us old goats get hard wired into a specific game plan, and it just does not work to try and change it!

Like me...I cant help but go for the balls with a punch or kick

this pass K-1Dynamite 2007 event,...was a really good fight for royce i mean his muay thai training was showing during the fight{{high head kicks, knees to the back of the thighs}} it was a good fight im glad to know that he has become aware that his old-school style strictly gracie Jiu-Jitsu with miniml strikes isnt gonna work that well anymore,...}}it was a good fight and im glad to see that Royce Gracie won,..fighting rather than from his Jiu-Jitsu skills it shows that he is becoming a Versatile fighter

I was there live. The fight was horrible. Extremely stagnant, you could feel the anxiety and frustration in the air. Booing is very inappropriate but the fight just horrible. I think they deserved it but since its Royce and Saku the booing was a bit too harsh.
