Yesterday my gym was scheduled to take part in "smoker" in California(United States). Most of you who are overseas will be rolling on the ground laughing about this, it is indeed that stupid... I've heard about the California State Athletics Commission coming in and shutting down these sparring matches that amateurs use to gain experience. I witnessed it first hand yesterday, and it blows! Everyone was ready to weigh-in and get matched up, next thing you know the boys in blue showed up along with CSAC.

I want to prevent this from happening at all costs to me again. So I was wondering if anyone had any information besides the CSAC website about registering to become an amateur fighter and paying $300 for a physical. That is the most promising thing at this point, but I'm broke, and want some more experience. :x

Well I am overseas and I don't have any info for you jons but I wish you all the luck in the world mate. I can understand why they would do it but at the same time it does fucking suck and I hope you manage to sort something out.

I think an athletic commission for something like this is ridiculous. As long as the participants know the dangers and there is someone there to give first aid or medical assistance let them spar. Noone should have the right to tell you what you can and cant do as long as it puts noone else at risk.

@Kuark

I agree completely, they just want some $$ and will go do ridiculous measures to get it.......
