Thin Custom Fit Mouthguards

Thin Custom Fit Mouthguards

Postby donovan99 » Tue Feb 05, 2008 7:25 am

Hiya!

My dentist made me two new custom fit mouthguards. One of them is supposed to be a nightguard (because I grind my teeth at night - LOL). The other is supposed to be a boxing guard (top teeth). However, they look exactly the same to me. In the past I had a thick non-custom mouth guard for kickboxing.

The question is.... does anyone here have custom fit mouth guards?
Are they thin like mine (only about 5mm thick)?

Am I risking getting seriously KO'd in my next fight??

the mouth guard in boxing is mainly there to prevent your teeth from knocking into eachother and making them break. There are high tech mouth guards that give some protection yo the chin as well, but those cost alot. 5mms is about enough

I'm not familiar with mouth guards for boxing purpose. If it is custom made for you then I think that's just about enough to protect your teeth during your match. Mouth guards and nightguards do look the same but for different use.

I agree that mouth guard used in boxing is only to prevent your teeth from knocking into each other and making them break.

Good luck!

Thanks Portermisch - it sounds like a great opinion, coming from a dentist!
