I have 3 questions:

first, are you in high school or college?

second, if the former does your school actually host them or do you just get together?

third, why are you still in school at this time of year?

My instructor does the following drill for power. But the question is... do you have a punching bag? This sounds like some underground fighting thing you are doing... but oh well...

Do your regular warm up - stretching, situps, pushups x 50... then
Do 20 Jabs to the air - the drop and do 10 push-ups
Do 20 Crosses to the air - then drop and do 10 push-ups
Do 10 Jabs to the bag - the drop and do 10 push-ups
Do 10 Crosses to the bag - then drop and do 10 push-ups
Do 10 Jab Cross Combos to the bag (total 20 hits) - then drop and do 10 push-ups.

Do this everyday without injuring yourself (very important here) - and you'll have some substantial power for the fight.
I recommend that you have someone spotting you to make sure you dont cheat on the push-ups and that your punches have the correct body movement with them.

messymuslim, what is your fighting style? The varying styles have slightly different ways to generate power and to build power over time. The exercises that donovan99 posted will serve you very well. I have practiced TKD, Hung Gar and now train Chi Lin Kung Fu, the key element to me is the power is derived from the ground and whips up through the hips and out through the hand.

BTW if you are faster, move, dont let him hit ya :)

Get a boxing coach. Training and improving your punching technique will improve your power.

kinetic linking from the ball of your foot to your fist, rotate the hips and keep your arm at a right angle.

just like kinetic and potential energy. you take the potential (energy) and apply it to turn it into kinetic (energy) causing kinetic linking transferring the energy from the ball of the foot to the fist. like a wave effect.

i would say so. think about it. actually just do it. SLOWLY. pay attention to how everything works together to find the end point. in reality, everythign is just beign transferred from bottom to top, or back to front. however you want to look at it.
