Self Defense....

What sport to choose, sure we all know that in the Ring Karateka's get mostly beaten by Muay Thai fighters... and that in Free fights, the best ground fighter is most dominant...

But in my eyes, there are no rules when you defend the life of a dear one or your own life... I would poke the eyes out, bite ones balls off tear the hair or beard out... I wouldn't care... no matter my Muay Thai background... I'd be as vicious as possible... because maybe... the otherone will be too. and I don't like maybe's when it comes to life.

kungfu is good for self defence. but you can also learn some judo taekwondo or MMA for self defence aswell muay thia isn't that good. I think you would be best helped with a street fighting course!

Did you just say Muay Thai "isn't that good?" So you are saying Muay Thai is not good for self defense?

First I will look at this one.

The statement that most Karatekas get beaten by Muay Thai is not correct! In fact we fair very well. The more famouse fight I am thinking of is the Kyokoshi guy against the Thai fighter. Poor Thai guy got KTFO.

Personally, I have beat a Thai fighter very bad in a bar when I was bouncing. And I have got my ass handed to me by one in a ring during a work out. It depends on the fighter....and the situation. KarateKa in general are not used to the kind of in ring fighting that Thai fighters do. It is like taking a Judo or BJJ guy and throwing him into a ring with a thia guy....way out of their element. Now put a good Kartate guy against a good Thai guy on the streets....way more even than you would think!

So, you dont like Thai boxing, you dont think it is interesting....yet you want to go take it....seeking dull training sounds like a symptum to me!

Yeah I guess everyone would agree it's mostly the fighter that makes the difference.

Taekwondo and kung fu is not good for self defence, look at Krava Maga or Jap JJ for real self defence

Any style can be good for Self D, it is the instructors skills and the ability for a student to learn and use what they learn. Hell even crapy TMA like Kung fu and TKD can be use.

Krav maga is the ultimate self-defense martial art. It's all about kicking in the balls, eye gouging, cutting the person ect

Krav Maga is a Police style/ SD form that would not be allowed in the ring. Now if you are looking for SD MA then it is a good one. the first thing you have to remember is that their is no BEST Martial arts or no BEST fighter. Any fighter can be beat on any given day.

And as for style....I like to think of it as a big physical form or rock-paper-scissors! My style matches up best against yours...but his kicks my but and you can take him.

It doesn't really matter. My point is that on the street you should fight without rules. Style has nothing to do with it. All I wanted to say is that a conversation on styles where it concerns defense is a useless conversation. It serves no purpose.

It's not about "look how good I am at what I do, my penis is longer and can take more kicks than yours, my balls are iron balls" it's about a proper mindset and how to change from a common mindset to a more vicious mindset, it's about the shift from angel to warmongrel.

If you do not agree, you should not fight on the streets. I only can speak for myself, but if someone would touch one of my loved ones, he'd better be prepared because I don't hold back, and torture is an option in my dictionary.

First off Conversation does not serve "no purpose" with out conversation and sharring ideas no body evolves. Conversation and sharring of ideas is paramount in progression in the Martial arts and the MMA. So, talking about style may be fruitless, but what we get out of it is snippits of ideas that should be scowered for truth. Really the my style vs. your stle is a stupid argument. Who cares if TKD can take a Kung fu guy, or Judo is better than Hwrang do! You are correct, but if we ignore the fact that one "style" is not better than the next you can see that one Strategy is perhaps better than the next in specific situations and one technique is better than the next if used in a particular way.
As a former bouncer I can tell you that when BJJ first came out it was hell on wheels in the Dojo and at MMA events...but in the bar...not a good idea, Thai and stand up was better. you do not want to roll around on the floor with some moron, getting glass in your butt and probably curb stomped by his buddies. Get it, got it....good.

I do not want to talk about your "penis" and do not care to compare over the net who can get kicked in the nuts more times....once is way to often for me...I try and avoid it. But I must give you my condolences over the unfortunate prosthetic situation you have with your Gonadz! Sounds like a horrible story to have to recount! I feel for you brother! I agree that fighting is mostly a mind set, All jokes aside, You do have to make sure that you are ready to do anything. But SD and MMA are two different animals. The skills you learn in MA and MMA can be applied, but dont fool yourself into thinking that a real SD situation can be totally trained in ANY MA or MMA gym. The variables are to great to completely train for a SD situation. The first time I got into a bar fight as a bouncer I got punched in the face and lost it. After everything was done I puked my lungs out when the adrenaline went away. Not something you can train for!

I could not agree more with the fact that if you are not ready to take it to the next level you should not fight on the streets....granted I dont see a reason to fight on the streets anymore as well. Most thugs like to fight on the street and I cant stand punks that think fighting proves they are men...Raising a family and taking good care of them proves you are a man. Protecting your family is a good thing Dude, but remember that if you go to far....you will have to figure out how to protect them while you are serving time. Style vs Style arguments are stupid...but so are pissing contests about who is tougher.
