just getting started and want to cut weight the right way

I am just getting started working out and training for mma. I am 5'11, 230lbs but i have a muscular build. I do lots of heavy lifting at work.(my chest and arms are very toned) I just need to work on my midsection and cardio. I also want to cut at least thirty pounds if not more.Any diet or workout tips that will help with my weight or cardio will be greatly appreciated.
