Try resistance stretching- it works quite well for increasing flexibility. Basically when you are stretching any muscle contract the muscle you are stretching. Give it a try!

I can do kicks to hit a a guy 6'2 in the face, and what I've been doing are kicks and stretches. I start with the leg streches (mainly for the back of the thigh) then move on to kick a certain spot on a kicking bag. (Preferably high spots.) After a while you will get used to kicks like that.

For a side note, I usually use the high head kicks when the people are tired, or afraid. It disnerves them. I just pratice the high kick to put even more control and power into the lower kicks.

I usually do alot of groin,Hammy, and calf stretches before hitting the heavy bag for a while.I then go for a nice run and then hit the bag again for another little while.Afterwards I make sure to stretch again thoroughly and rest for at least 1-2 hours before doing anything else. After this I usually eat then Jog to the gym for a workout.4 times a week.

At my kung fu academy we usually line kicks for streching.

You start with hand out so your in a "T" shape with palms faced out, then you step with your left foot and swing up your right leg too about chest height, when your right leg begins to land stop it where your left foot is, then step out again with your right foot and repeat same motion but this time kick with your left foot.

We do this over an area of about thirty feet every time we go back we kick a bit higher each time.

it's a good way to actively stretch as long as it's nice and controlled otherwise you could end up pulling something (we usually do this after we warm up for about 2-3 minutes) going into this routine right away could be very bad..... but i recommend doing it every now and then, it got my kicks higher.

You can do the stretching alone or with a partner. Each have its own way. Cheating is not an issue because the effectiveness is depends on your determination.
When I was still doing TKD some 10 years ago, we/I always did it systematically in classes.

1. Stationery jumping (with or without rope).
2. Joints warming - ankles, knees, groins, waist, arms, elbows, wrists, shoulders, neck, back down to ankles.
3. More on groins - straight stretching, side stretching (body straight, don't bend down), raise leg against the wall (or back against the wall, partner helps to push leg up), sitting down stretching legs against the wall/cabinet with something to hold to pull yourself (or with partner, face to face, feet on inner side of tights, pull), swinging legs.
P/S: Additional stretching on legs is due to its major use in TKD.
4. Jogging.

Same set of exercise after practice.

KikiUchia, you cannot do miracle in a few days time.
Stretching should be done everyday.
Stretching will definitely help in speed, because your muscles/tendons are not so tensed so they can reflex faster.

just aim high on a heavy bag and keep trying until you hit it with ease ... just like MT FIGHTERS DO

I agree with some stretching before training. However on the street you don' have time to stretch. However good martial artists avoid conflict.

Of course you don't do the stretching in a fight.
You should have done the stretching during training on daily basis.
