hitting with fingerbone below knuckle.

hitting with fingerbone below knuckle.

Postby Mlim » Fri Feb 27, 2009 11:02 am

Hi,
This might seem like a stupid question, but answer it although please. I am new to martial arts.

Is it OK to hit with finger bone below the knuckle when punching. When punching I sometimes hit with the finger bone below knuckles when aiming for opponent's chin (on Body Opponent Bag).

Yours sincerely,
Mlim.

I would stray away from that if I were you, I'm no expert but I'd think the finger bones themselves would snap alot easier and when the punch hits the knuckles are inline with the wrist so everything stays inline but the fingers are below the wrist so may easily cause the wrist to bend forwards on impact which is not safe!
